Yes a nice blue smoke, the kind I don't want to see coming out of my P5 tail pipe!

They were good cars well equipped for their day, fast and had a separate chassis could be bought new in the mid 60's for around £500 incl PT. Same two-stroke engine and freewheel as the Auto Unions and DKW's I once had (even fitted a Wartburg engine into one) The SAAB also had the same engine

The rally winning Saabs of the 1960s were 2-stroke.

Superior to the Ford V4 in all respects apart from cost

That old v4 was a terrible engine. When I was a lad my parents had one in a Corsair. It went like a missile but was never smooth! My friend had a mk1 Capri Xlr with same engine.
Interesting anecdote no 1. The Capri was 2 tone and had rally bits like a map light as standard. It was used as the car Jacko drove in the TV series brush strokes.
Interesting anecdote 2. My mate Alan bought it off a Mr Alcock. Alan's surname is Bottoms which we always felt would make an interesting solicitors practice name !,

V4 is a difficult configuration to balance.
Off at a bit of a tangent ... A neighbour is constructing a Briggs & Stratton V8 using 4 V-twins, to put in a ride-on mower. Just for fun. They are interconnected in such a way as to get the typical V8 firing order, so that it sounds right.
