Hi Ladies and Gents, I would like to draw your attention to the LW starter motor that Steve from Racemettle made for me a couple of years ago. It has proformed flawlessly for 2 years now and I would recommend it. Tricky to fit and my prototype has the main batt+ on the inside next to the engine block. But I did let them know so the one sold now should be the right side. Rover P5 3.0 1.4kw RAC915 www.racemettleltd.co.uk/r.html

Hi torque starter motors spin a high compression motor over with ease (I have one fitted to my 4.4 litre 11:1 comp ratio coupe), but why is one necessary on a 3 litre 6 cyl engine. I have no axe to grind and no fixed view on this, so is there something inherently wrong with the OEM starter motor?

New brushes would be a cheaper fix!

Rebore and new pistons! $0 YO starter just could not cope. Overhaul of old one with postage (of the 11kg) starter just made it a better choice and I could put it on with one hand (almost). Works flawlessly.
