i need festoon bulbs for the courtesy lights inside my mk1a p5 i have found them on a website but it does'nt specify car models and they have seven different sizes in MM sizes am i right in thinking these sizes are for the bulb length [cap to cap]? these are the bulb sizes on the shop site
269 (31mm) 269 (31mm) 272 (36mm) 272 (36mm) 239 (38mm) C5W 239 (38mm) C5W 272 (38mm) C10W 265 (44mm)
or does anyone know the size to order, so i can be sure to order the correct item,i broke one after taking the trim down to install new furflex.that is now part done. i have never seen as many tacks in my life.

Some MGB's have the same courtesy lights so you could check with Moss, Brown and Gammons or other MGB part suppliers

thanks all for your input, it's my own fault as usual i was a bit heavy handed taking down the head lining trim strip above the doors, and i broke the bulb i just dumped the bulb and then with very little info on the shop site, i was unsure on the size required, i made sure when i started on the nearside that i did'nt do the same

On a similar subject, has anyone tried LEDs in place of the bulbs that illuminate the writing around the switches?. I find they are pretty hopeless at night and the labels might as well be in Serbo Croat for all the help they are in identifying the switches.

They do,honest. Trying to work out what does what at night (you can guess I dont drive mine that often at night,or during the day come to that) is lots of fun. Jumping from one car to another often results in pressing the wrong controls (well,it does for me anyway) yesterday in the taxi,I got cut up on a main road and gave the culprit a dam good squirt of the windscreen washers.

No, as there are 4 of them and they are a bit small and fiddly to modify, however I have modified the speedo and tach illumination to take 1w LEDs (home made for +ve earth).

I also bought some courtesy led bulbs but didn't like them as too white. Dash is great though Cheers Colin roverp5.proboards.com/attachment/download/1232

Very Good - Very Good ! Nice to have a laugh. I have a Ford Scorpio as well and am forever getting mixed up with the indicators as on opposite side to the Rover. I also reach to the wrong side of the steering to start either car. Cheers Colin

Thanks for the pic,the speedo and rev counter look far better with the LEDs. I did take the rheostst switch apart and cleaned up the contacts which has helped a bit.I like a nice bright dashboard at night so I'll have a go at converting the bulbs/holders on mine. Or,I could just print off your picture and stick it over my dash.
