Hi all,
It's been a while! - I've read up on search but just wondered if anyone knows roughly how much padding or foam should be in the "crash padding" on the doors? How plump should they be?
This is the vinyl covered section inserted between the wood door cappings. I've always known mine were flat but I opened one today and the usual yellow damp foul powder is all that remains inside!
It's great to turn my attention the the interior for the summer for a while after a few years of welding and mechanics!
All the best
Barry

This was a thread here within the last year. the consensus was that the stuffning is pretty firm, somewhere between dense bread and emental cheese.

That's fantastic - thanks v much for the pics and advice
I've only opened one so far and as you said I'd thought the same and only opened one side up so I have the creases as guides to how the vinyl was tensioned. Like you I didn't even know there were aluminium edges until I removed the trims.
Toy stuffing ! - I might search eBay shortly. I was stunned how damp the foam remnants were as I thought the car was pretty well stored,
Nb I hate using safari for this site, I was gutted when pro boards app died on my iPad and is no longer available- it's so much easier to use than the web site!
Thanks again
Barry

I've got some foam on order - let me have a play. Thanks for the kind offer Richard - lets see how hard it is with sheet first! I've removed all staples from on side only and gently peeled the vinyl open. As the creases are well defined I should be able to retain original position of vinyl - just depends on "crush" factor on new foam.
Once you start looking at trim you realise how shabby it is! - furflex needs replacing as well as its all faded or worn at the base of the doors.
air stapler on order next!
