Facet arebest mounted at the front of the car - they are very noisy and I am deaf. They have powerful suction but aided by siphonage if fitted low down
I see you still have the last of the old solenoid reserve valves first used on the pre-war P2's

I'll try it where the existing one is and if it's too noisy or has issues I'll move it to the chassis somewhere.

After reading all these posts about the noise produced by various brand fuel pumps I have to ask if anyone out there is still running their P5 simply with the original dual SU pumps? They can be repaired or rebuilt if need be and David Green must have buckets of used ones I bet. My hearing isn't great, but frankly I can't tell when my SU pump ticks away in the boot, especially once the car is running.

You don't notice the Facet pump working Ken it's only when the fuel is running low which is a plus as far as i am concerned the other thing is SU's are in the boot and you don't hear them due to distance plus rubber mounting etc, I have my Facet on top of the X member so basically it's underneath my seat

Wherever you fix a Facet mount it in rubber bobbins. A kit of two off ebay is well under a tenner. I have just done that on my P6 and it helps cut down the noise.

I still run our P5 Coupe on its twin SU pumps - I rebuilt them 2 years ago for the 2nd time in 20 years

Burlen stock new SU pumps for boot mounting and repair kits at reasonable price.

Attempted to fit the Facet pump using the original rubber mounts for the existing pump.......no go I'm afraid.
The pump was sucking at nothing and would have needed to have been manually primed.
Refitted the old one, the Facet will be used on the Mini.

Yup, still running SU pumps on all three cars, although I did chicken out and buy a new one for the P4. The rubber diaphragms can needs replacing not only when they start to leak, but also when they get old and stiff, and the solenoid can no longer draw the armature in against their stiffness.
